- The UN Development Programme (UNDP) has released the first Africa Human Development Report, which examines why hunger continues to be so prevalent in the region and puts forward a series of policy recommendations across the development agenda.
- The UNFCCC Secretariat has released the submissions from Australia, Gambia on behalf of the least developed countries (LDCs), Nauru on behalf of the Alliance of Small Island States (AOSIS), New Zealand, Norway and a joint submission from Colombia, Costa Rica, the Dominican Republic and Peru, containing their views on a workplan for the Ad Hoc Working Group on the Durban Platform for Enhanced Action.

- The Clean Energy Ministerial (CEM) Chair's Summary reviews the events and outcomes of the meeting and notes key interventions made by participating Ministers and observers in sessions on clean energy, energy for all, energy efficiency, and cross-cutting topics. An appendix also outlines initiatives announced at the CEM.

- The Bureau of the UN Conference on Sustainable Development (UNCSD) announced, on 4 May 2012, that an additional week of informal informal consultations on the UNCSD outcome document would take place from 29 May-2 June 2012.
- A Caribbean Overseas Countries and Territories (OCT) Council was created on 26 April 2012 to unite ten Caribbean islands in their development cooperation relationship with the EU. The Council will focus on sustainable development, with working groups creating plans for such topics as climate change, renewable energy, waste management and disaster management.

- The commitments and initiatives have been made specifically on energy efficiency, renewables, CCS, universal energy access are the outcome of the Third Clean Energy Ministerial and address the areas of energy efficiency, renewable energy deployment, and global energy access.
- Maria van der Hoeven, Executive Director, International Energy Agency, writes that "achieving a more secure, sustainable energy system, in line with the goal of limiting the rise in global temperatures to 2C, is still possible but requires urgent action by the world's major governments."

- The IEA report “Tracking Clean Energy Progress,” launched at the third Clean Energy Ministerial, recommends that policymakers build on CEM initiatives to increase the level of international cooperation and encourage national clean energy technology targets, coupled with policy action and appropriate energy financing models.
- The UNFCCC Secretariat has released 12 submissions from Parties containing their views on the composition, modalities and procedures of the team of technical experts to conduct the international consultation and analysis. The submissions will be considered by the Subsidiary Body for Implementation (SBI) at its 36th session.
